S. boulardii is supposed to treat diahrea, we are not exactly sure how it does this but we have an idea. The fungus releases some kind of enzyme which is a kind of protien. In the digestive system, there are harmfull bacteria that excrete diahrea causing toxins. The enzyme from the fungus breaks down and destroys the harmfull toxins, therefore getting rid of the diahrea.
