Saccharomyces boulardii is a yeast which is a type of fungus, its purpose is to treat diarhea. There are bad bacteria in the digestion system that excrete harmfull toxins that cause diarhea. The Saccharomyches boulardii goes in and releases an enzyme that breaks down and destroys those toxins, therefore helping the diahrea problem. It reproduces asexually by budding.

In the 1950s people started using a lychee fruit to help treat diahrea in France. I dont think that the world would suffer too much without this fungus, i have had diahrea before and i have never heard about this until monday and im doing fine.
